Maybe we won't have to lose our cellphones after all to save the crops.
Just as well-I can imagine the HUGE protests if businesses (and
teenagers) were asked to give up their precious cellphones and
blackberries to save a BUG. The political battle to get rid of the
relevant insecticides, or other environmental hazards, will be bad
enough.

According to information from the "To the Point" program today, the suspicion about possible cell phone induced causes of bee disappearances was not intended to be the focus, and was not the finding of any study. Even high power electricity transmission lines appear to only be something of an electrical shock hazard if a bee comes too close to the wires, or something like that.

So, I am left to wonder how the press and other reports got it all wrong. Is there possibly some spin now being applied to the results of the studies as a form of backpedaling to avoid the possibility of an overly anxious public? If so, it would not be the first time. But, it remains more probable that pesticides and other man-created causes are the primary factors, to include genetic crop modifications. There could be more than one cause as well.
