I have had no problem at all with printer switching. My default
printer is a networked printer at work.
When I am home I have to designate another printer so I can print
otherwise it still defaults to the work printer.

Betty,
My Laserjet is about 10 years old(!) so no USB support. It runs warm enough
to heat up my office so I leave it off when not in use. But at least a
dozen times I've hit the "print" button on my work computer and sent the
output to the wrong printer. I just want to assign a default printer and
not have Windows "help" me out by second guessing what I really want to do.
Thanks,
