Since you said that you do not have Adobe Reader (which lists "Document
Properties" under the file menu) this is what you need to do:
a) highlight the file;
b) then in the Finder choose "Get Info" from the File Menu or simply do
"Command-I"
c) Then click the little triangle next to "More Info:" and that will
tell you what the Encoding software was.

Alas, none of my readers will tell me anything more than the fact
that the file is a PDF, the file size and the creation date. I cannot
determine what software created the PDF file.
