I think that was the case up to a couple of years ago. Now they can't 
understand why we did not throw the bums out and have concluded that most 
Americans are evil.

Much the same thing as the turn the EULA thread just took. People are not 
paying attention to the legislation being passed, are not contacting 
their legislators, are not protesting. 

Much of it is getting caught up in short term thinking. Notice how the 
bums are constantly promising that everything will be peachy in 3-6 
months. One short-term plan follows another -- again and again and again. 
Just like MS keeps promising that the next round of patches will finally 
solve all their security problems. Patch, patch, patch, patch, patch, 
patch, patch, patch, patch...
