All,

My PC has developed a mysterious & annoying problem in the past 3-4 weeks -- the system year keeps resetting itself to 2005. (The month, day, and time are correct, just the year changes.) I'm running Windows 2000 Professional 5.00.2195 with Service Pack 4 on an HP Vectra with a Pentium III chip (1000 Mz). Of course, I've tried resetting the year through Windows and hitting "Apply." This often works until the next reboot. Sometimes, however, the year later reverts to 2005 in the middle of a session, and it always goes back to 2005 the next time I restart or power off/on.

I've also tried hitting F2 at power-on time and resetting the year there, but no matter what I set it to, it is 2005 when Windows comes up.

So far the only effects of this seem to be that 1) my Word documents get an incorrect timestamp, and 2) I get messages from my internet browser about my "certificates" being expired or not yet valid. I'm worried, though, that other damage might be happening behind the scenes, and I don't like things that change for no reason and won't let you change back!

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers, Anne
