Well, it's been over a year since we had a big discussion about this, and you've supplied a new link to play with, so...
Not that anyone uses cds anymore, and DVDs sandwich the reflective layer deep inside the plastic. I like this article because they point out the dangers of so-called 'safe' markers. Nobody knows what kind of ink is in those things, probably not even the chinese manufacturers. But nobody puts them thorugh any kind of product testing. They label them 'cd safe' and depend on gullible consumers to snatch them up. OTOH, they claim Sharpies use solvent ink, which I don't believe has ever been proven. But at any rate, the ink dries so quickly there's no residual chemical effect. Unless maybe you try to age _your_ cds by storing them at 140F degrees! But as the article said, even when they did this the cds were fine.
