We started using inkjet-printable CD's & DVD's last year--looks more
professional for our patrons. They're now the same cost as the discs we
used to buy. The Epson R220 we use uses dye-based inks, so they're not
as destructive (but also, they're not waterproof like Epson's
pigment-based inks).

Subject: [CGUYS] marking on CDs with marker pens?
I heard this only recently and wonder if anyone has any experience:
"Most people mark on their CDs and DVDs with harsh solvent-based
permanent markers that can cause damage by corroding the top layer
of the media. Safe pens are solvent-free, non-toxic, and alcohol-free."
And here is a link to a better explanation which states 20 years is
about the longest time before degrading:

Anyone know more about this?
