Fascism: Doctrine; collection of concepts; and dictatorship by government of a country, often involving hostile nationalistic attitudes, racism, and private economic ownership under rigid government control. A fascist regime is often militarily belligerent.

There are many in this and other countries who see the Bush administration as meeting that definition. Others see it as a plutocracy. Pick your own definition, but things are definitely not going the way the founding fathers envisioned a democracy.

Nope. Not hyperbole, unfortunately.

That is what many people we met overseas have told us as we traveled the past few years, including last week, again. I hadn't seriously considered that the admin was moving toward fascism until it was pointed out to us by people who lived under those conditions [Germany, Yugoslavia, etc.], i.e. secrecy, censorship, internal spying, dubious arrests, rendition, corporate interference/control. Not realizing the situation puts us in more danger.
