Dear John DeCarlo,
Very few people write precisely when asking for help.
Mostly because they do not know which facts are important,
if they did know, they would be able to figure out the answer
themselves.
Even though I did read the original post very carefully, and
John McDonald DOES state that his laptop will NOT start
with the battery removed, he does not state if it is plugged
into AC power or not. I am trained to not assume conditions.
I want hard facts.
So, John M. where are you in your problem?
Do you live in the DC area?

I am guessing that the battery is bad.
One way to prove that, is to remove the battery, plug in the AC
power adapter (brick) if it runs, then the battery has gone bad.

Phil,
Can you tell me why the laptop would run without the battery but
not start
without the battery, if it were just a battery problem?
Thanks.
