A while back, I posted a problem I was having with a Dell computer who's
fan sounded like a jet engine. I discovered this particular computer,
running Windows XP Pro, was very temperature sensitive and when the
office A/C got fixed, the problem went away. However, now it seems it
is acting up again. But here's the twist: when the user gets an e-mail
with an attachment, the fan revs up like crazy followed by a beeping
noise. When he closes the e-mail, and it can be any e-mail with an
attachment, the beeping ceases and the fan settles back down. Has
anyone heard of such a thing?
