AT&T reported ACTIVATIONS of iPhones, NOT sales. Wired <http://blog.wired.com/music/2007/07/apple-270k-ipho.html> speculates that the discrepancy was caused by delays in activations as AT&T's system was swamped, and also to people buying two iPhones, hoping to e-Bay the second for a profit.
