Good point. When making big changes you have to consider all the angles. 
Security systems typically rent a "dry pair" from the telco to monitor 
the security system. If you get rid of your POTS copper you are getting 
of their dry pair too. You need to make sure they have a plan-B. Since it 
is you that is making the change they are correct to charge you for the 
extra labor you are causing.
