I've been buying refurbed Dell low-end laser printers (1710n model) for a
while now, with 3-year warranties, for under $200. I used to purchase HP LJ
1000/1200 printers (which had only 1 year warranties) for the same task, but
they just died after about a year or 2 of light use. The Dell toner is
competitive on a cost basis with HP brand and not all 3rd party toners are
created equal for HP printers. Xerox seem OK, but I stopped buying the Eco
Elites after the last one fell apart, yet again. I have to eat the ~$70
cost every time one of those cartridges break.

The bonus is that the Dells are networked, while the 1000/1200 series is
not. Some of these replaced expensive ink-jets in certain instances. Even
though they are just rebranded Lexmarks, no problems with the Dells. I have
about 8 of them in use right now.
