Yes, that is what I was getting at in part; trying to get through all those
minefields on the way to trying to simply purchase one thing, e.g. a domain
name, check out and be done with it. And not knowing much about any of
this, found myself considering making some of those tempting purchases, but
luckily (in this senses, at least) I have no money to spend on all of those
temptations! So just got one domain name originally (now 2) and one month
of hosting service for about $7 for the month.

The problem with GoDaddy is trying to figure out how to prevent them from
taking ALL your money. Their sign up process is full of extra-cost
come-ons and you have to know what you are doing to resist their scare
tactic sales approach.
