The only person trying to change the subject is you. It only puts meat behind what I've been saying for a long time now: Windows is secure when not running as admin, especially as the lowest privilege user. Yes, you may stomp on your hat now. > The ease with which you can change these settings in Windows is prima > facie proof of insecurity. The reason you have to jump through hoops to > do this on a Mac is exactly because of the built-in security. It's proof of nothing, other than Windows isn't hung up on the name of the account. For years you've been saying how Mac is so much better than a PC because it's so much easier. Now it's better because it's harder? Color me surprised and please put some mustard on that pretzel logic for me. BTW, how is does it make a computer more secure by making it more difficult to change the name of the account that has the most permissions on a computer? There is no real security advantage to that. That sounds like security through obscurity. If it were a privilege escalation exploit, raising the permissions of a lower privilege user you do have credentials to, you'd have a point, but only changing the name of the account that can already do everything? What does that get you? > Since you can log in using the long name I don't know why you insist on > changing the short name. Why not just make all the long names the same > and be happy? This is an artificial crisis. You may have a point there.
