That's one thing I loved about my sony minidisc.   I dropped the thing on
concrete from at least 4 feet several times, the battery case was partially
held on by duct tape.  It had been accidentally fully submersed in water and
I just had to take it apart and let it dry.  The thing just keeps running.
It's 6 years old now nearly and just hums along.
