Only some of the converter boxes that MAY become available can be obtained with coupons. Most retailers have no particular desire to offer converter boxes because to do so would likely reduce their sales of new digital televisions. Most retailers, at this point in time, have placed no orders for converters with any manufacturers. Most available manufacturers are not even planning to make converters because they see too small a market for them.

As I have heard from other sources, the whole thing is a big, big mess, and it could well be that no converters will ever be available to anyone on any reasonable retail scale. Additionally, retailers and manufacturers do not view themselves as being responsible for analog TV owners being able to continue using their analog television sets.

Bottom line? It is a quagmire of mismanagement, collusion and confusion, and in the final analysis, do not expect to get anything.
