Many of the benefits you list are mostly Federal money administered by 
states.

Perhaps you would be happier if the Feds invested 5 or 10 percent of the 
taxes you pay on advertising all the wonderful things your taxes 
accomplish? I bet most people would be willing to pay more taxes if they 
knew more about what the money was used for.
