This is a real bummer. During hurricane Isabel my neighborhood in Annandale lost power for just under three days (66 hrs o/a). The POTS phone worked the entire time. Cell phones didn't as the towers didn't have power. So there will be no way to call 911 under these new circumstances. What happens to public safety then? We will need fire call boxes in the neighborhoods just like we had sixty years ago??? Some other kind of emergency radio?
