I think you are going about adding it the wrong way.
Where is the software to add this device to Windows? usually it
works pretty slick.
Otherwise go to add printer.
Click add printer, networked printer, than browse.
Let it look for the printer device on the network.
Once it finds it, it should install pretty easily.
But you really should be using the software that came with the device.

Here's a problem that I hope somebody can help me with: I have a D-Link
DP-301U print server installed on my home network that allows me to print
from both wired and wireless PCs around the house and it's working fine.
My saga however is that I picked up a refurbished Dell with XP home (yes
legal) and I installed the printer on this new machine as I've done before
with the other PCs in the house but for some reason could not print from
this one machine. So rather than try to figure it out I removed the printer
and went through the process of adding a printer a second time. This is
where I ran into the problem.
The printer is added as a TCP/IP port with the port name being
IP_192.168.0.10 i.e. XP adds "IP_" to the servers ip address on my network
automatically. Ever since adding and removing the printer I get a message "A
port with that name already exists. Chose another port name" error even
though I have no printers defined yet on this PC.
How can I get this machine to forget the port and allow me to add the
printer again, or am I doomed to changing the ip address for the server and
reinstalling a printer on the other PCs in the house. Long winded I know,
but I wanted to make sure I presented all the details.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Brian
