I think what you're seeing is just the Comcast cache - what they call
"PowerBoost". It can be quite useful for things like movie trailers.

But it can be annoying when I just want to test my speed. I just ran a
couple tests at speedtest.net to Frederick Md. and Wash. DC, and the
DC test actually pegged the meter at 39205kbps (39mb/s) (1931kbs up).

Okay, this is a colossal waste of time. As I try different speedtest
servers _many_ of them are pegging the meter. Results vary for those
that apparently aren't on the cache, but seem to be averaging about
20000kbs/1600kbs.

You didn't give a link to your trailer so I can't compare. The YouTube
version isn't doing anything spectacular, but since it's a streaming
server I wouldn't expect much. The Apple site won't let me download
because it can't find a Quicktime ActiveX control (though why it would
need one in Firefox is beyond me).

Now I miss the Old Days when a speed test was a speed test. :)
