Yes, there will be a security hole that can be exploited if the attacker
uses the exact method of attack.

Me?  I run ZA at home and I'll feel a lot more secure about my (or any)
system even with the security hole than relying on the XP firewall.

While that would work, it is advised that doing so would leave a 
security hole. There are some other, more complicated workarounds/fixes 
which look promising. If this isn't resolved soon, I may pursue them.
