It wouldn't be the first time a power brick failed. If the drive stays on with the USB disconnected, the drive power is fine. If not, get a new brick for it at Radio Shack or someplace if you have to. No point in obsessing over the warranty after the fact. Maybe you can get the manufacturer to send another brick.
