Typically drives sold for internal use are not formatted. You can
partition
and format it in one of the Manager areas. Control Panel ->
Administrative
Tools -> Computer Management, then go to the Disk or Storage area.
A million THANKS, John, and all others who replied! I followed the
wonderfully specific instructions you sent and, though it took a LONG time,
the drive is formatted and pronounced "healthy" and now shows up in "My
Computer" with 238 GB of empty space. Bliss! I think that that should be
enough to accommodate my extreme packrat tendencies. COMPUTERGUYS Rock!!
