Tom,
I'm looking at this to control file sharing with a Linux
laptop. I currently have a small network (an iMac running 10.4.11, a
MacBook Pro running 10.5.6, and PowerBook which can run/boot either
10.2.8 or OS 9). I would install it on my iMac. Do you know if it would
affect my current network?

Does anyone know anything about the program/utility Sharepoints for the Mac?
It works great on Macs prior to OS X.5 (Leopard). It provides an easy GUI
for configuring the Mac's NetInfo database to share files. It is free. It
does not avoid the OS's limitation of 10 connections, for more you need
to buy the $1,000 server version of the Mac OS.
Apple added its own easy to use file sharing in OS X.5. It also
eliminated the NetInfo database so Sharepoints was left high and dry.
