Some banks will let you customize your landing page with a photo, custom 
colors, or other features. This makes it harder for a spoofer to spoof 
you.

The idea of using a VPN for a wireless connection is that your are 
protecting the most vulnerable part of the transaction. It is a good 
trade off between safety and simplicity. Of course if you have a VPN 
available at the destination computer that would protect you all the way. 
You can buy a router that will do IPSec for about $50.
