I bought my wife a laptop not long, the best part is I got her 19" lcd to match the one I already have. I use them all the time, mostly keeping IRC/IM etc on one and everything else on the other. Also the few times I do get to watch tv or a movie, I can keep it playing in one window and work in the other. Can't imagine going back at this point.
