The Global Warming alarmists consistently refuse to publish/release _all_ of
the details of their research so that all of the assumptions and details of the
analysis can be examined for factuality/reasonableness. It's very easy to
create a computer model (which is what this climate research is) and input
assumptions to obtain any answer you want. There is great difficulty obtaining
meaningful measurements of temperature (and other aspects of climate) going
back more that a couple of hundred years when fractions of a degree are
important.

Determining the real cause of temperature/climate change is even more
difficult. The statement that we should hastily act on a premise that climate
change is caused by anthropomorphic atmospheric carbon dioxide, and can be
halted by reducing the CO2 in the atmosphere, is very speculative. We run a
huge risk that climate change is going to happen anyway, and our economic
resources should be spent developing accommodation to the climate change that
will occur no matter what.

It's quite possible/likely (note that I do not say proven) that the climate
change scare is being promoted by those who will profit from the development of
alternative sources of energy. The latter is good, if it can be accomplished
such that the alternative energy is competitive, but not as an absolute.
"Follow the money."

We will never become "energy independent." It's not possible. For the same
reason that it's not possible to buy our way out of poverty (lift every
impoverished person out of poverty by giving him/her money from the government
obtained by taxing the rich). The economy is never static. And if we were to
become energy independent, we would impoverish those parts of the world whose
economies now depend on exporting oil. Why do we want to do that?
