Are you drinking again today? She didn't specify a particular type of network. Fact is, many post houses use networks - gigbit and fibre channel - both faster even than firewire 800.
The reason I didn't implement networking (NAS - network attached storage) for our workstations is twofold. First, it's always been dicey capturing while dealing with a lot of network traffic. But most importantly, having NAS like this gives the whole place a single point of failure. The LAST thing I want is all work to come to a halt while I drive in to diagnose a problem. Much better for each workstation to be totally independent. It's broke? No problem - I'll take it home next week and get it back to you asap! Yet one more reason to stick with XP. ************************************************************************* ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *************************************************************************
