Old benchmarks run with old chipsets that don't take advantage of DDR3 show speed increases of 2 to 5 percent. Not much, but not bad for $12. http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2989&p=8 But a well-designed computer is not just one part. It is a collection of interacting parts that have to be designed to match up for top performance. For example Apple just retooled the Mac Mini. The new version costs the same as the previous version. The processor is 9 percent faster. The new model moves from DDR2 to DDR3 with a new chip set designed to work with DDR3. Benchmarks show the new model is 23 percent faster, not bad for a zero dollar price increase. http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&art icleId=9129179 ************************************************************************* ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *************************************************************************
