24bit, 88.2 k ? Those are DAW formats, not consumer formats. There
are solid state recorders out there that will record and playback
those rates but they aren't in the ipod arena. Unless your looking
to pay $1500 for your ipod

RBCDs at 44.1 x 16 go much less than half of that but I'm not
sure of an easy equation. Obviously the higher resolution is
preferable and you could put more music than you could listen
to for a few days on the drive at high resolution.
I don't know if the portable players will do uncompressed at
high sampling frequencies and bit depths, though. I kind of doubt
it but I'm open to correction.
