Missed the point Rev! Apple is saying a netbook cannot provide the
compute experience their customer-base demands. It has long shown it
can be successful marketing to demanding, picky customers; for example
Tom and his insistence on FTFF! Why should Apple dilute its focus by
catering to another market? Apple is about more than just computers -
if you don't understand that, you are in another market.

Thank you,

A similar question was asked of Paul Kliptsch who made only high end
speakers. (Came out with a bookshelf model named heresy)

Because that is where the market is.

If Apple wants to show us it is all about good stuff. Make and market a
netbook that is better than all the rest.

Apple is about Computers. The computer market is shifting away from
desktops (I think the past few years laptops have outsold desktops)

At this point people are about small portable appliances that are easy
to transport and use. (Iphone, Itouch ec.)

Instead of looking down your nose at a segment of the market. Make it
better and show others how it is supposed to be done.

That is the difference between an elitist snob and a entrepreneur. One
talks down to it, the other shows them how it is to be done!

And by the way I would not put Apple up with McIntosh or Denon or Onkyo
or Bang-Olufsen.

It is more like Technics against Pioneer or Sony. They are after
similar clientele. (the computer enthusiast)

The other guys do not want the riff-raff, only the connoisseur

Now all of the above is true unless you folks are really elitist snobs.
