It's not a matter of understanding, it's a matter of it not mattering to those who you view as 'not getting' the apple way of life. To those people, a computer is just a tool, it's not a statement about who they are. And because a lot of mac people view their computer choice as a statement of who they are, they assume pc users are the same when they aren't. My choice of computer makes zero statement about who I am...but there will be those out there who think it does say something, and I'd bet they are mac users.
