WordPerfect achieved 78% market saturation, but not because it was nearly bug free; it was because they chose to not implement copy protection. Business would buy it, and the employees would copy it and take it home. When the employee went to a new
company, they would recommend it!  The EULA even encouraged this practice!
When they rewrote it for Windows, it was full of bugs... crashing computers, etc.
It took several versions before I considered it stable enough for real work.

So far as Microsoft DRM goes, they could learn something from the WordPerfect for DOS model.

times first to Novell and then Corel.
