I have many downloaded apps. These days I never purchase physical media if I
can avoid it. They re-install as easily as anything. Five minutes per.

Again, I think your fear indicates you really aren't ready for a failure of
any type. I always advise people to imagine: What if you woke up tomorrow
and your computer was GONE (happens all the time)? Would this be a huge
scary deal, or a minor inconvenience?
