Yes, *I* cringed. But then I realized you must mean you keep *copies* of these files, and sync it constantly to your main system.
But why all the bother? If you have broadband, just keep these files "in the cloud". I still cringe a bit too when a client sends me a U3 flash drive. Not a big problem for me, but I can't imagine they purchased it after thoroughly investigating U3 and making an informed decision.
