Definitely ditch Norton. Who knows what damage it has done. In addition to the other good advice you have gotten I would also worry that your OS may have been damaged. Good first aid for this is to download the 10.3.9 combo updater and install it. Then run software update to get the rest up to date. Do not use software update for the OS update and don't download the smaller diff update file.
