I have one of the below-mentioned kits and it works well. Aside from having
small-diameter probes, the adapter to the standard vacuum hose has an
adjustable air bleed, which permits decreasing the suction if using this device
on your powerful shop-vac is too "fierce."

If you have a thermally controlled fan, dust accumulated on the heat sink for
the CPU will inhibit heat transfer and cause the fan to run faster, thus
producing more noise, even if the bearings are good.

When I have sucked up as much of the dust as I can, my final cleaning step is
to attach the hose to the exhaust of the cannister vac and use the air to blow
the remaining dust out. You especially need to reverse flush the fins on the
heat sink. You don't want to start with blowing if there is a lot of dust.
Gets all over the place.

If you have a special source of dust/hair, e.g., cats in the house, it can
accumulate in the box very quickly. I don't really know what an iMac is, but
if it is a tower unit that is kept on the floor, units kept on the floor seem
to accumulate dust much more rapidly than desktop units.
