Apparently you didn't read the story. Smiles and teeth in general just makes it more difficult for automatic face recognition software to work. Makes a lot of sense. I'm sure the apps will only get better.
However, if a smile throws the software, I can only imagine what a beard would do. But if, like me, you always wear a beard, what would be the point of removing it for a photo ID? Much worse even than that would have to be women's wildly varying hairstyles and colors.?
