There are plenty of W7 drivers- including NVidia. My machine is running just fine- the upgrade took less than 1.5 hours-mostly because MS kept telling me what programs might not work (the same one it told me would not work with Vista- which I did have to modify). It took more than 6 hours to upgrade to Vista from XP. I know the logic about clean installs- but it would take more than 20 hours for me to reinstall my programs (and that assumes I can still find the install disks- and NOT have to install an older version followed by the upgrade since I have at least five progams that have upgrade disks not the original install disks). My computer is maxed out at 3 Gigs of RAM (but I am NOT running 64 bit anyway). It now runs at 25% vs 45% on Vista. The problem I have seen is that most vendors have NOT made drivers for 64 bits (Adobe, Dragon, Western Digital [external drive/webaccess- but we made our own for the client], etc.)- no matter what flavor software you use. Hence, you can't run them and use more memory...

There are no obvious defects in it as it stands. Nor are there any defects in Vista, though driver support was woefully slow to materialize. And I bet the same will be true of Win7. I wonder how many engineers at e.g. Nvidia are working on Win7 drivers right now? Probably none. They'll wait until the release date, then they'll schedule a meeting, then they'll discuss it a while. Many manufacturers will then decide not to update drivers at all, instead preferring to have everyone throw away the old hardware and buy new.
