Not so.  Not running with admin rights by default, as you do with XP,
is much more secure, period.  YMMV.

With Vista and 7, you run with reduced rights until you need to
perform an action that requires elevated permissions.  UAC performs
that function.  This is not to say that UAC is the best implementation
of that function, I'd rather have a password prompt, but it seems to
be working.
