It's called the "Lite" version.  It does matter as non-Windows IE browsers
don't use ActiveX, which OWA relies on for the more local-app-like features,
such as dragging between folders.  You also can't access public folders in
the lite version, which is a curious design decision (and has caused me some
grief).

I've read that the upcoming version of Exchange will be coded differently
and will do away with the Lite version, so that non-IE brwosers won't be
crippled so.

And yes, you need to click the check boxes.  Yes, it's a pain.
