It takes me over an hour to get to work, and I typically only check any gauges maybe once in that time. I'll look prior to leaving the driveway, and then a few minutes later, time enough to tell if I have some immediate problem such as no fluid somewhere, but that'll probably be it for the duration of the ride. Where I do spend a lot of time looking is in the rear view mirror. I still do not need a speedometer unless I am trying to find out exactly what my speed is, and even then it may not be exact.
