to get that wrapped up about a phone, IMHO.

Same emotions were expressed by people who lost their Twitter connection during the recent DOS attack. You might say that Twitter is just a variation on RSS so what's the big deal. The big deal is that Twitter took the idea just a little bit further and crossed a utility/ emotional threshold with a large group of people.

If you don't understand this it just means that you have not yet obtained a technology that meets your needs to a very high degree. When that happens it is life changing and people do get extremely excited and emotional about the source of that change. If you are using M$ products it is very unlikely that you will ever experience this.

I still feel pangs of sadness over OS 9. Apple's OS X is a poor imitation. The new OS does not help me as much as the old one did. I finally stopped using OS 9 only a few weeks ago. I'm still excited/ emotional over my old Palm Tungsten, though I suspect I'll be even more excited/emotional over a Pre or iTouch. I'm waiting to see what Apple does with the expected larger form-factor version. During the early days I was similarly excited/emotional over the ARPANET,using it with my dot-matrix terminal.

If you can't get emotional about technology, what are you doing here?
