The Lacrosse BC 900 and the Maha MH-C801D are both smart chargers and are often paired with the Sanyo Eneloops (AA or AAA) NiMH batteries. The batteries are known for their long shelf life/slow discharge capacity and when used with a smart charger make a good combination.
The Lacrosse chargers let you charge, slow charge, discharge, and condition batteries individually. It has four slots, so you can be charging one battery while conditioning another in one of the other slots. It may be too much for "consumer level" but if you have other devices which use the same battery size, it might justify the investment. I also use the bulk tenergy branded NiMH from http://www.all-battery.com/ and they discharge noticeably faster when sitting in a device or on a shelf. I use then eneloops in flashes for digital cameras and the difference in performance is notable. http://www.thomasdistributing.com/shop/la-crosse-bc900-battery-charger-w-lcd-displaybrdeluxe-travel-bag-accessory-kit-brprice-5497-p-539.html?SP_id=41&osCsid=vpvghi1hoerjv9mqe7rub30c16 http://www.thomasdistributing.com/shop/maha-mhc801d-aa-aaa-battery-chargerbrdeluxe-8-cell-professional-battery-charger-w-full-lcd-displaybrbrfree-accessory-bag-2-free-eight-cell-battery-holdersbrspecial-price-6897-p-437.html?SP_id=&osCsid=fs17972mto0cepcf9ikhbatek3 http://www.thomasdistributing.com/shop/la-crosse-bc9009-alphapower-aaaaa-nicd-nimh-battery-chargerbrincludes-4-c-size-and-4-d-size-battery-adapters-4-aa-and-4-aaa-batteries-and-durable-travel-bag-p-1762.html?SP_id=&osCsid=a98rm8a91donrsllit8gi3gna7 http://www.thomasdistributing.com/shop/sanyo-eneloop-aa-2000-mah-4-battery-pack-brultra-low-discharge-nimhbr1-free-4-cell-battery-casebr35-977-per-4-pack-6-or-more-957-p-287.html?SP_id=50&osCsid=vpvghi1hoerjv9mqe7rub30c16 http://www.thomasdistributing.com/shop/sanyo-eneloop-aaa-800-mah-rechargeable-batteriesbr4-battery-packagebrincludes-1-free-4-cell-battery-holder-p-391.html?SP_id=51&osCsid=vpvghi1hoerjv9mqe7rub30c16 > > Date: Tue, 18 Aug 2009 12:41:45 -0400 > From: John Settle <[email protected]> > Subject: Consumer Level Rechargeable Battery Technology > > All, > > I'd lie to get some advice.
