That would seem logical. But, I haven't received any notices about an
update, apart from IE8.
So why, if the problem involves McAfee and Windows Update, did you ask about
updates to Internet Explorer? There's certainly nothing wrong with updating to
IE8 _before_ installing McAfee.
I asked about IE8 because, I found several people on the Net, who had
trouble with Windows Update after IE5.
Are you getting some specific error from the installer? Is this a fresh install
or is/was there old security software installed? What OS?
I keep getting installation failure notices. The software is direct
from Comcast's website. Where, The have Mcafee Security Suite($120
value) free for all Comcast customers. My OS is XP Pro SP2.
