You aren't required to, but don't expect software created ten years ago to run on brand new systems. If you want to keep using eudora you better keep that old version of windows or mac handy.

As time goes on I find that software does get smarter and better as developers understand tasks better (except for M$ Office). New software may do things differently, but the change is typically worthwhile. For example I find Apple's mail or GMail to be entirely adequate. Exactly what is so complicated about email that nothing but Eudora will suffice for your needs?
