It's not going to do much good to keep discussing this, because as I
pointed out yesterday Vista does not normally behave this way. Yes, if
you view the properties on the disk it will show as read only, but
after copied back to the hard drive they don't.

Rather than discuss a non-existent issue, try it yourself first. I
just now tried it again, this time using the Vista built-in burner.

PS I don't remember this ever happening to me in XP either. At work we
still burn a ton of data DVDs for archiving, and nobody yet has
required any explanation why they can't edit those files (but I don't
have one to check).
