Leo do testing?  Nope, strictly it seems faster that Vista.  I
don't know that he tried installing it on anything other than
on newer hardware.  I don't know that he compared Win7 versus
XP or not.  If he did, it wouldn't be quantitative, strictly
qualitative.  I think he (maybe Paul Thurott?) was of the
opinion that Aero (the fancy user interface with transparency,
etc.) was using a lot of resources, disabling that could make
things much more responsive.
