Don't know what it's worth, but 7 is being picked up at a rate of over 200% greater than Vista in the same time period. I've been running 7 since before the official beta and have not had one issue on three other newer versions. I think it's a given that most people running 7 are from new installs, I really can't imagine normal people upgrading...but who knows. A friend who does network support etc, didn't put win 7 on till it was officially released, he didn't want to attempt the beta. He was running vista, and did a clean install. As did I...every time.
Everyone I know who is running it is a hobbyist or in the industry in some way, none of them have had negative experiences with it of the dozen or so I know personally. This doesn't mean it's been perfect, just that there has been no cry of I can't take it, I'm going back to xp. At this point I wouldn't want to go back to XP, win 7 has been rock solid for me, everything runs and works just great.
